İçinde bulunduğumuz dönem için bütünüyle 'distopik zamanlar' demek doğru olmaz. Gezi direnişinin ütopik anlamı ve hayatımızı distopyaya çevirenlere zekice ve cesur bir mizahla karşı koyanlar, baskılara direnenler, özgürlüklere sahip çıkanlar distopyanın alıştığımız güç dengesini bozuyor.

Öte yandan ülkemiz özelinde konuşmaya devam edersek, insanları arzusu alınmış, üremeye ve çalışmaya ‘kurulmuş’ gri kitlelere çevirmeye çalışan toplum mühendisliği ve herkesi önüne konulanı alkışlamaya, onaylamaya iten, yapmayanları cezalandıran, ötekileştiren gözetleme ve kontrol sistemleri de adeta distopik eserlerden fırlamış gibi.

Belki de ütopyamız kara ama renginin tonu gidip geliyor.

Böyle konularla dergilerde, gazetelerde sıkça karşılaştığımız günlerde, memleketin en ilgi çekici müzik oluşumlarından biri olan D2GG ile müzik adına yaptığı ilginç işlerle dikkatimizi çeken Osman Kaytazoğlu’na bizi en çok heyecanlandıran konulardan birini teklif ettik: Güncel Distopya.

D2GG imzalı Fractus çalışmasında bilim kurgu klasiği THX 1138 filmi karşımıza çıkarken, Osman Kaytazoğlu sessiz ve derinden çalışmasıyla David Foster Wallace imzalı The Broom of the System kitabının sayfalarını müziğine kattı.

Ses Kitabı’nın görsel yönetmeni Selin Özdamar ise konunun izini İstanbul sokaklarında sürdü; AVM ve plaza’ların cehenneme çevirdiği kentte inşaat halinde bir böcek buldu ve split albümün fotoğrafını çekti.

The times we are going through cannot be truly called dystopian. The utopia of Gezi and resistance against the ones turning our lives into a dystopia with courageous humour and wit, revolt against pressure and rebellion for personal freedom are disturbing the usual balance of power.

In our country, the social engineering trying to turn people into grey masses lacking desire, "installed" to reproduce and work and monitoring systems pushing people to applause/accept anything in front of them, punishing/marginalizing the "misfits" are almost like the dystopian works.

Maybe our utopia is dark but the tone of its colour is constantly changing.

While we come upon such issues in magazines/newspapers a lot, we have offered to one of the most interesting music formations in the country, D2GG, and one of the musicians with interesting work, Osman Kaytazoğlu one of our most exciting themes: Contemporary Dystopia. First the movie THX 1138, a science fiction classic is greeting us in the dystopia composition signed by D2GG and the book, The Broom of the System by David Foster Wallace was added the silent and deep work of Osman Kaytazoğlu.

And Selin Özdamar as the visual director of Ses Kitabı, looked for a shot to the theme in Istanbul, the city turning into hell by malls/skyscrapers and found a bug in construction so she took its photograph for the split album.
